WHAT WE BELIEVE

Christian Bible College of Louisiana is a fundamental Bible-believing institution.  As such, we believe in the fundamental concepts of the Christian faith.  Some of these are as follows.

The Supremacy of God  God is the supreme maker and ruler of the universe, and there is none to compare with Him.

The Plenary Inspiration of the Bible   The Bible was written by men divinely inspired by God, as is the only authority for the salvation of mankind.

The Unity of the Godhead   The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are One, working distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

Election   The eternal act of God, by which, in His sovereign pleasure, and on account of no foreseen merit in them, He selects certain out of the number of sinful men to be recipients of the special grace of His Spirit, and so become voluntary partakers of Christ’s salvation.

The Virgin Birth of Christ  Our Lord Jesus Christ was born of a virgin as taught in Isaiah 7:14:  “Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call His name Immanuel.”  Matthew 1:23 :  “Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted as God with us.”

Conversion and Regeneration  Regeneration, or the New Birth, is the divine side of that change of heart which, viewed from the human side, we call conversion.  It is God’s turning the soul to Himself.

Justification  Justification is that judicial act of God by which, on account of Christ, the sinner is united by faith and God declares that sinner to be free of his sins as though he had never committed any sins in the past, present or future.

Sanctification  Sanctification is that continuous operation of the Holy Spirit, by which the holy disposition imputed in regeneration is maintained and strengthened through the continual use of the appointed means, such as the Word of God, self-denial, prayer, watchfulness, the practice of all godly exercises and duties, and associating with other Christians.

Perseverance   The Scripture declares that in virtue of all the Original purpose and continuous operation of God, all who are united to Christ by faith will infallibly continue in a state of grace and finally attain everlasting life.

The Church  The Church is the body of Christ, the living organism to which He gives spiritual life, and through which He manifests the fullness of His power and grace in the past, present and future.

The Ordinances of the Church,  Ordinances are those outward  Rites which Christ was appointed to administer in His Church as visible signs of the saving truth of the Gospel.  They are signs in that they vividly express this truth and confirm it to the believer.  The ordinances are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Physical Death  Physical death is the separation of the soul from the body.  We distinguish it from spiritual death, or the separation of the soul from God, and the second death, or the banishment from God and final misery of the reunited soul and body of the wicked.

The Second Coming of Christ  We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ will one day triumphantly return to this earth to reward the righteous, punish the wicked, and to complete the salvation of His people.

The Final States of the Righteous and the Wicked.  For the Righteous there is eternal life, glory, rest, knowledge, holiness, service, communion with God.  For the Wicked there is eternal fire, the pit, outer darkness, torment, eternal punishment, wrath of God, and the second death.
